Facts about the agriculture in China.

China has the largest population in the world (over 1.3 billion people by the end of year 2004), with 70% of which (over 0.91 billion) is made of peasants and farmers. 

In this sense, China is the world’s largest agricultural country.

However, the total amount of China’s international trade in agricultural field does not reflect its “leading position” in agricultural population. This is because China is still a developing country, and its agriculture industry is in a preliminary stage. According to some statistics, from year 2000 to 2004, the annual national fiscal investment in agriculture had increase from RMB 257.316 billion to RMB 398.376 billion. (RMB:USD = 8.27:1).
